The Latin American Professional Society for Genetic Counseling (SPLAGen) is a grassroots effort founded by Latin American genetic counselors in March 2021. Our goal is to provide a platform for executing projects focused on education, outreach, advocacy and research in order to promote knowledge and access to genetic counseling services in LATAM. We welcome all genetic counselors and genetic counseling students to join us!

Objectives
The goal of our society is to help connect genetic professionals interested in achieving the following goals: Research:
- Investigation: Promote research collaborations and develop the necessary infrastructure to carry out research studies that evaluate the processes and results of genetic services in Latin America.
- Education: Facilitate professional development, continuing education opportunities, and build frameworks for clinical and educational practice standards.
- Interconnection: Build a collaborative environment to facilitate partnerships and support for genetic providers and students from different countries in Latin America.
- Professional support: Expand knowledge and access to genetic services by identifying ways to increase the resources available to patients and improve the recognition of all genetic professionals
